Independent Living Services

  • Transportation: This service provides transportation for elders and disabled individuals from their residence to the senior center and return.  Other stops may include the post office, clinic, or grocery store, as determined by each provider.
  • Socialization and Recreation: This service provides activities and skills development at the senior centers in constructive and satisfying use of leisure time.  Tribal providers that offer this service engage in a variety of activities including arts and crafts, recreation activities, cultural education, gardening projects, and senior trips to other tribes and conferences.
  • Respite Care: This service includes the recruitment and training of volunteers and staff for a short period of relief, or respite, for caretakers that are providing care to another individual, usually an elder or disabled individual.

ITCA-AAA provides these services with funds from Title III of the Older Americans Act and state funds.  Each tribal provider offers additional services with supplemental funding from tribal, and other state or federal sources.
