TAKING ACTION
Participating Tribal schools and child care facilities will automatically receive ITCA assistance with understanding water test results, determining options for next steps, and implementing the identified follow-up actions. This assistance can include, but might not be limited to, the following.
- Communicating test results to community stakeholders (this could include public relations assistance)
- Comparing water test results to their specified action level
- Identifying possible lead sources in the plumbing/fixtures (this could include additional testing)
- Identifying short-term, intermediate-term, and long-term strategies for reducing waterborne lead exposure
- Developing a plan for implementing the follow-up action strategies
- Identification of funding options for longer-term action strategies
- Communicating action plan strategies to community stakeholders
- Implementing short-term action strategies (this could potentially include limited funding support of short-term mitigation actions through the ITCA grant with USEPA)
