Purpose
The Cultural Resources Project assists tribal governments in the protection and preservation of cultural resources including traditional life ways and aboriginal languages, sacred sites that include revered landscapes, sacred shrines, burial sites, traditional cemeteries and archaeological and historic sites associated with current day reservation jurisdictions as well as the aboriginal lands of the Tribal Nations in Arizona through the participation of tribal representatives on the ITCA Cultural Resources Working Group.
Cultural Resources Working Group
The working group consists of tribal historic and cultural preservation officers of the 22 tribes whose lands are located in Arizona. In some instances, the tribes include their museum directors, archaeologists or archivists as members of the working group.

The ITCA Cultural Resources Coordinator provides staff support to the working group to monitor issues, report information to the Tribes and coordinate meetings as discussed below. ITCA and Tribal staff voluntarily provide technical assistance based upon the expertise of their program area.
